As the Election Commission of India is set to announce the date for the state assembly election today, the model code of conduct will come into effect immediately. In light of this, the Chief Minister has cancelled his scheduled programmes in Koppal and Haveri.
The CM was supposed to participate in programmes in Yalburga in Koppal district, as well as in Ranebennur, but these events have now been cancelled.
Speaking to reporters, the CM made it clear that no one from the BJP will be joining the Congress, in response to KPCC President DK Shivakumar’s telephone calls to BJP leaders to switch parties. The Chief Minister’s stated that Congress is resorting to desperate measures in order to gain an advantage in the upcoming election. But his work will not give any desired results, he said.
