Gadag: On Thursday, an honest police constable attached to Betageri police station assisted a woman in retrieving the money she had dropped in a crowded vegetable market.
Muttu Reddy Meti is the policeman whose quick judgment and rapid action made it possible to locate the missing cash.
According to Betageri police station PSI Rajesh Batkurki, a lady dropped Rs 24,500 while shopping and promptly approached Muttu Reddy Meti, who was on duty at the time.
The observant officer got information from the lady and inquired about the shops she had visited. After a quick but intense search, the police constable discovered a bundle of currency notes that had fallen to the ground, and after verifying that the cash belonged to the lady, he gave it back to that lady, said PSI Rajesh.
Muttu Reddy and the Betageri police were praised by Gadag Superintendent of Police.
