On Tuesday, Congress party city district president Altaf Hallur issued a show-cause notice to former mayor and Congress leader Prakash Kyarkatti for speaking against his party MLAs Prasad Abbayya and Laxmi Hebbalkar.
Prakash Kyarkatti, who was defeated by Chetan Hirekerur in the recently concluded Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation election, had spoken against MLA Prasad Abbayya for not speaking in favor of Muslims during the recent Hijab issue.
He also spoke against Belagavi Rural MLA Laxmi Hebbalkar, alleging that she is interfering in the city’s Congress party affair.
He was also vocal against Hebbalkar’s son-in-law, Vidyanagar Block Congress President Rajat Ullagaddimath, claiming that he was responsible for his defeat in the election and also alleged that Rajat was behaving like a party high command.
Following his statement against the leaders, Congress party city district president Altaf Hallur asked him not to speak against the leaders and warned him of taking strict action against him.
Hallur said he was compelled to issue Kyarkatti a show-cause notice, as he continued to speak against MLA Abbayya, violating the party’s discipline.
Hallur, in the letter, had asked Kyarkatti to reply to the notice within seven days after reaching him, and why the party should not take action against him for repeatedly violating the party’s discipline.
