New Delhi: A delegation led by Karnataka’s Medical Education Minister Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil and Minor Irrigation Minister NS Boseraju met Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya in a concerted effort to advocate for the establishment of the prestigious health institution, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), in Raichur.
Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil shared that their purpose of meeting the Union Minister was to discuss the establishment of AIIMS in Raichur. The Union Minister responded positively, assuring that the government would establish the premier health institute at the location recommended by the state government.
NS Boseraju explained that the state government has already submitted a proposal to the union government to establish this healthcare institute in Raichur. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has also personally requested the same, extending this collective appeal from the representatives of Hyderabad Karnataka.
Notably, Raichur is one of the state’s 120 aspirational districts, and this demand reflects the unified stance of the region’s representatives. The financial requirement for establishing AIIMS is around Rs 2,000 crore, with the state government committed to providing the necessary land and water for the project.
