Hubballi: AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal dodged questions over announcing candidates well in advance. Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday night, Venugopal said that this issue came up for discussion during the political affairs committee meeting, but he couldn’t reveal it to the media.
He said the party is well prepared to finalise the candidates, to announce the candidates, to face the election and to win the election. Rahul Gandhi himself attended the first PAC meeting in Karnataka in the run-up to the Assembly elections, and the meeting was fruitful, said the senior Congress leader.
He said Rahul Gandhi asked the leaders to go aggressively in terms of campaigning and highlighting the misrule of the BJP. He asked the leaders to highlight the issues that were haunting the public, like price rises, unemployment, corruption, and other anti-people and anti-democratic measures they introduced.
He also said that Rahul instructed leaders not to speak in public about the party’s internal matters in public. There is no leadership issue in the state, the leader or CM candidate will be announced after the elections, and the MLAs and party high command take this on this, he said.
