Agnipath protests: Security beefed-up at Hubballi Railway Station| Shipping Min announces new avenues for ‘Agniveers’

Hubballi: As the protests against the union government’s new Army recruitment scheme “Agnipath” is getting violent with each passing day, in many places violent protesters had torched rail coaches, buses and disrupted rail and road traffic, security at Hubballi Railway station was beefed up. The police and RPF personnel have started patrolling the railway station premises. They kept close eyes on the movement of people and have taken all the precautionary measures to prevent protests at Railway station.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways (MoPSW) proposed six attractive service options for easy transition recruitment of ‘Agniveers’ in various merchant navy posts following their time with the Indian navy on Saturday.

The initiative will allow Agniveers who have successfully finished their tour of duty with the Indian navy to obtain the requisite training, rich naval experience, and professional certification to join the world’s remunerative merchant navy.

The rules were published today in Mumbai by the Directorate General of Shipping, an organisation within the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways.

The Karnataka government would absorb Agniveers into the state police, state Home Minister Araga Jnanendra announced on Saturday. “I condemn the rallies that are taking place in opposition to this initiative,” he concluded.
