Chennai, ( Hubli Express News): On Friday, a court in Chennai pronounced veteran actress and politician Jaya Prada as culpable. She has been sentenced to a six-month imprisonment term. Additionally, she has been fined ₹5000 in relation to a case where she faced allegations of failing to disburse ESI funds to her theater staff. The case also implicated her business associates, Ram Kumar and Raja Babu, both of whom were similarly deemed guilty.
The former actor who is also into politics, Jaya Prada, possessed a theater situated in Chennai. The theater’s operations came to a halt when Prada defaulted on the Employee State Insurance (ESI) payments. Consequently, the affected staff members pursued legal action through the Chennai court. The deducted ESI funds from their wages had not been remitted, with allegations that these contributions hadn’t even been forwarded to the Government Insurance Corporation.
Consequently, the Labor Government Insurance Corporation lodged a lawsuit against both Jaya Prada and her associates at the Egmore Magistrate Court. According to India TV’s investigation, the actress acknowledged the allegations and committed to settling the outstanding payments. In addition, she attempted to have the case dismissed, but her plea was rejected by the court.
