Hubballi: Anti-Corruption Bureau special team officials nabbed two men who used to dupe government employees and officials by claiming to be from the Anti-Corruption Bureau.
ACB officials stated that they had received numerous complaints from government personnel and staff who had been duped by conmen. According to ACB officials, these two used to call employees and officials and claim to be from ACB, telling them that a raid was going to happen on their property or office and that in order to stop or avert it, they needed to pay the money immediately, and most of them transferred money believing these cheaters’ words.
According to officials, Murugeppa Ningappa Kumbar, 56, of Sadalaga village in Belagavi, and Rajanikanth, 46, of Muguli village in Hassan district, were arrested in Hassan.
According to the ACB police, Murugeppa was involved in 40 similar crimes, while Rajanikanth was involved in nine such offences.
The ACB had asked government employees who had been duped by these fraudsters to come forward and file a complaint against them.
