Hubballi: Karnataka State Minority Commission Chairman Abdul Azeem on Thursday visited the violence-hit areas of Hubballi city.
He was accompanied by ACP RK Patil and other policemen. The old parts of Hubballi last Saturday witnessed violence following a protest by a community.
He visited Old Hubballi police station, Diddi Anajeneya Temple, and Sanjivini Hospital. These three structures were targeted by the violent mob.
The chairman got information from the priest of the temple, Prakash Badri, and trustee Manjunath Shirur, about the damage the miscreants caused during the violence. He said that the police were doing their investigation and said that they would also give protection to the temple.
Later, speaking to reporters, Nazeem, who is also a retired Assistant Commissioner of Police, called on the people to remain calm and said that all the communities should live in harmony.
Azeem is expected to meet Police Commissioner Labhu Ram later in the day. Mohammed Nazeer, Secretary of the Commission, is also present.
