Hubballi: The Aam Aadmi Party’s candidate from Hubballi-Dharwad Central, Vikas Soppin, has criticized both the BJP and Congress parties for not addressing the pressing issues that the people are facing in the upcoming election.
Speaking to reporters here on Friday, Vikas expressed his disappointment that the parties are ignoring concerns such as rising prices, unemployment, and deteriorating infrastructure, instead focusing on emotional issues such as Lingayat and backstabbing.
According to Vikas, the candidates are not reaching out to voters door-to-door for fear of being confronted with their inaction, and instead relying on roadshows and rallies to demonstrate their strength, which he believes is counterproductive.
Vikas highlighted that the parties’ focus on Lingayat-related issues is confusing the electorate and creating the impression that this is an election related to a Lingayat organisation rather than an assembly election. He criticized the parties’ attempts to woo Lingayat voters as embarrassing to Lingayats.
In an effort to garner support, the AAP has organized a mega rally in the city on May 7, in which AAP leader and former cricketer Harbhajan Singh may take part. Vikas is optimistic about his chances in the election and believes that he has received positive feedback from voters.
