An undertrial prisoner managed to escape from Hubballi’s sub-jail on Sunday. According to Ashok Nagar police, the prisoner, Vijayanand Naregal, who is on trial for murder, escaped by taking advantage of a job cleaning the area around the prison.
Ashok Nagar police inspector Arunkumar Salunkhe, informed www.hubliexpress.com that the prisoner had gained the trust of the jail personnel by good behaviour and had been in the jail for quite some time. Prisoners with excellent behaviour are permitted to work outside the prison under the monitoring of the jail personnel. He had previously been handed several tasks, which he completed diligently.
However, he was able to flee on Sunday. The Ashok Nagar police have registered a case and hunt is on to nab him, he said.
