Gadag: A constable attached to Betageri Layout Police Station allegedly committed suicide at his residence in Lakkundi village in Gadag district on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Pavadi Gouda Patil, 36. The police said that the victim allegedly committed suicide due to alleged harassment caused by two journalists and seven policemen.
Constables’ father has registered a case in this regard. The police said that two journalists, one of whom was working for a state-level Kannada TV channel, used to blackmail him. The accused had access to a few of his personal photographs and, based on that, they used to give them mental harassment and threatened that they would reveal it before the Superintendent of Police.
The Gadag Rural police have registered a case in this regard and an investigation is going on.
