Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) tested the 5G network at MG Road metro station as a part of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) pilot project on Friday.
TRAI has selected MG Road metro station of BMRCL for 5G network trails. Reliance Jio installed the system, which comprises outdoor small cells (ODSC) distributed antenna system (DAS), on July 5 and tested it on July 21, Friday.
ODSC radiated signal covering up to a distance of 200 metres. Preliminary bandwidth trials have given 1.45 Gbps down and 65 Mbps upload speeds making it 50 times faster than 4G, said BMRCL.
