11,815 children in the Dharwad district receive their COVID jab on the first day.

Dharwad: As many as 11,815 children in the district were inoculated with the coronavirus vaccine till 4.30 pm and the numbers were likely to go up as the uploading details of the children who took the vaccine was going on, said Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil.

He said that the district witnessed a good response from the children for voluntarily receiving the jab. He thanked the parents. The COVID vaccination drive for the age group of 15–18 began this morning.

Minister Shankar Patil Munenakoppa flagged off the drive at Hebsur Secondary School in Hebsur. The Chairman of the Karnataka Legislative Council, Basavaraj Horatti, was also present on the occasion.

Former CM Jagadish Shettar inaugurated the event at Government High School in Nagashetty Koppa.
