Hubballi, June 1: An 11-month-old baby girl from Bhairidevarakoppa has tested positive for COVID-19 and has been admitted to KIMS (Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences) Hospital in Hubballi.
According to health officials, the infant was suffering from congenital heart disease and exhibited symptoms of Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI). Following this, her throat swab was collected for COVID-19 testing, which later returned positive.
Hospital authorities at KIMS confirmed that they received 400 RT-PCR testing kits on Saturday evening. By Sunday morning, a total of 50 samples had already been collected and processed.
KIMS Hospital has been designated as the nodal center for COVID-19 testing and treatment for cases referred from the districts of Dharwad, Gadag, Belagavi, and Bagalkote.
