Hubballi: To curb the spreading of novel Coronavirus in the twin cities, the HDMC and district administration has adopted a micro containment zones strategy. The administration, without hesitation, announces micro-containment zones in areas where over five Covid-19 cases have been reported.
According to the data sourced by the HDMC, as of Saturday, the twin cities have 16 micro containment zones, eight zones each in Hubballi and Dharwad. 212 patients are in these micro containment zones, said the HDMC officials.
HDMC Commissioner Suresh Itnal told hubliexpress.com. the objective of announcing micro containment zones is to cause less disruption to normal life and economic activity. And it also contains the spreading of the virus in that area.
He said the HDMC has revised home isolation rules for asymptomatic and symptomatic patients. And a red tape is fixed on the houses of those who are under home quarantine and as well as in the area where over five cases were reported. For example, in ward number 22 in Siddeshwar Nagar near Someshwar temple in Dharwad city, the area reported 62 cases and hence the entire area was sealed down and the containment zone will be denotified only when all the patients test negative and no further fresh cases reported from that area.
Itnal said that they have deployed an incident commander to each containment zone, and strict monitoring would be conducted by that officer in that area.
