Dharwad: In Dharwad district, till January 12, as many as 50 students and 11 teachers tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
According to the information shared by Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil, on January 11, the COVID positivity rate in Dharwad taluk had crossed 5.38 percent and in Hubballi the positivity rate jumped to 11.76 percent.
The positivity rate and, in many schools, COVID clusters were reported. Hence, the administration, after discussing the matter in the District Disaster Management Committee meeting, took the decision to suspend physical classes from class 1 to 8 students. However, schools can run online classes.
