Kerala faces yet another challenge in the form of battling the Zika virus in the midst of the Covid outbreak. The overall number of Zika virus infections has risen to 14, according to sources, with the National Institute of Virology (NIV) confirming 13 more cases. Following an increase in instances, the state has been placed on alert.
The first Zika virus case was discovered on Thursday when a 24-year-old pregnant woman was diagnosed with the mosquito-borne disease. The symptoms of Zika virus infection, according to doctors, are similar to those of dengue fever, including fever, rashes, and joint discomfort.
Following a spike in Zika virus cases in Kerala, the neighbouring state of Karnataka also issued guidelines, according to reports.
