Gadag: The Gadag Cyber Economic and Narcotics (CEN) Crime police have arrested four people who were illegally selling Remdesivir in the city.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Gadag Superintendent of Police Yatish N told that the accused were arrested red-handed while they were trying to sell the drug near Radha Krishna Nagar in the city on Saturday.
CEN police team led by its inspector Mahantesh T arrested the accused. The accused have been identified as Mohammad Ismail Odekar, a resident of Betageri, Firoz Khan Pathan, Gavisiddayya Hiremath, Ramesh Chavatagi all are residents of Gadag.
The SP said that Gavisiddayya is a lab technician at GIMS Hospital Gadag, Ramesh, a nurse and another accused Jyoti Lamani who is also a nurse is still absconding.
The SP informed that the accused were used to sell each vial of Remdesivir at a whopping price of Rs 30,000. The police recovered 14 vials of Remdesivir, cash of Rs 2,500, and four mobile phones from them.
Gadag Rural Inspector Ravi Kappatanavar is investigating the case, said the SP.
