Hubballi: MLC Pradeep Shettar has stated that when vaccinations for the over-18 age group begin on June 21, 25,000 people will be immunized with the Covid vaccine in the district alone on that day.
Shettar told reporters after inspecting the vaccination centre at KIMS Hospital on Saturday that vaccinations will be available in the district for people over the age of 18. Covishield and Covaxin first dose will be administered on that day and for the inoculation drive additional facilities such as vaccination booths will be created, he said.
Later, he conducted a review meeting of KIMS with the hospital authorities. The Director of KIMS, Dr Ramalingappa Antartani, said that just a few days ago, KIMS used to treat around 1,000 Covid infected patients on any given day and now the numbers have come down drastically. Around 450 patients, including those with black fungus and SARI infections, are being treated at the hospital, he said.
