Former India captain and legend Kapil Dev has termed swashbuckling wicketkeeper-batsman Rishab Pant as one of the most ‘talented batsman in today’s cricket.
Pant was under immense pressure to perform before the Test series against Australia and his performance with hard-hitting shots and gritty innings took the world by storm. He amazed everyone with his performance in the Test series against Australia and England.
Kapil Dev thinks that the stylish-left hand batsman needs to slow down a bit and blend caution and aggression. India will lock horns with New Zealand in the World Test Championship and later the team India will play against England in a five-match- Test series.
Dev said, “ He looks an established cricketer. He is timing the ball very well, his range of strokes improved a lot. But playing in England condition will be a challenge. He should spend more time on crease and not just try to hit every ball. Rohit Sharma was also the same, we used to say about the Mumbai Indian batsman. He had so many shots, but would get out so many times.”
Kapil in a comparison with Rohit Sharma, suggested the southpaw to take time to settle in before launching an attack.
Rishab is a wonderful player. “ I would suggest that he take time before opening the shots. England is different.”
The world cup winning captain said he loves Test cricket the most and enjoys the game a lot and he would sit and watch the game full day.
“I am a big fan of red-ball cricket. I love watching it full day’s play. If work did not permit me to watch the match live. Then I not miss the highlights. I always watch the match as much as I can. I love Test cricket and nothing like it,” said Kapil.
India will take on New Zealand in the maiden final of the ICC World Test Championship. The final starts on June 18 in Southampton, England.
