As many as 13 girl students staying at a post metric hostel for girls belonging to minority communities on Police headquarters Road in Dharwad have tested positive for the novel coronavirus infection.
Following detection of Covid cases, the hostel was sealed down, said the authorities.
Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil confirmed to www.hubliexpress.com that the students tested positive for the infection during routine testing of the infection among the students. They were all asymptomatic. With this in Dharwad, two new COVID clusters were detected. The district administration is conducting 5,000 tests and the positivity rate on January 10 has crossed 7%.
Meanwhile, Karnataka reported 14,473 new COVID cases, bringing the total number of active cases in Karnataka to 73,260.
